Role Overview
Our partner is a passionately independent and growing professional services firm based in the City of London. We are seeking an AAT qualified or ACCA part-qualified Accounts Associate to join their Business Services team. This role is essential to providing quality accounting services to clients within the Outsourcing Team. Success in this role will involve delivering accurate and timely accounting services, building strong client relationships, and continuously improving processes to meet client needs.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage financial statements, management accounts, and statutory reports for corporate and charity clients in compliance with the firm’s procedures.
- Prepare and review VAT returns, including understanding partial exemption rules.
- Delegate, supervise, and review the work of junior team members, offering constructive feedback and guidance.
- Provide general accounting services, including preparing working papers for management or statutory accounts.
- Communicate effectively with clients, building and maintaining strong relationships.
- Recommend improvements to clients’ accounting systems and controls.
- Ensure all work is completed on time and within budget, reporting any issues to the Manager/Partner.
- Take ownership of assignments and ensure successful completion, proactively solving issues as they arise.
Qualifications
- AAT qualified or ACCA part-qualified (or equivalent).
- Minimum of 3 A-levels (or equivalent, with a minimum of 120 UCAS points) and GCSEs with at least a Level 6/B in English Language and Maths (or equivalent).
- A minimum of 4 years’ experience working within an accounting practice.
- Experience in preparing statutory and management accounts, VAT registrations, and VAT return preparation.
- Strong communication and client-facing skills.
- Knowledge of UK GAAP, specifically FRS102 and FRS105.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Xero, and MS Office (including advanced Excel skills desirable).
- Experience with cloud-based accounting software and add-ons (e.g. Dext, FUTRLI, Fathom, Expensify) is a plus.
